A Home Broadband Phone – Is a Broadband Phone System Worth It?

A home broadband phone system is one that runs directly through your computer. It does not use the traditional phone lines as we are used to. The technology itself is called VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol. Basically it takes an analog audio (someone talking in a phone) and converts into digital format.

So what is the biggest benefit to using VOIP for a home phone? The number one benefit of using a VOIP phone system is the cost! See most people already are using the internet, right? All a broadband phone done is tap into that existing technology and you have yourself a home phone line!

Recently I was looking over my phone bills from my local provider. I had a package deal with my cable company. I was getting home phone service, television, and broadband internet for $140 per month. I never really looked at my bill though. My home phone line was close to $60 per month!

What makes this even more painful is that my wife and I already have cell phones too! So we decided to make a switch. We purchased a home broadband phone package three months ago. We signed up for a year and are paying a whopping $16.95 per month! That is over $40 a month in savings!

What I really found useful with a home broadband phone is that I was able to get a second line for no charge. I now have two phone numbers for the same price. This is good for me being a small business owner. Not to mention, my kids are eventually going to want their own phone line as well!

The call clarity is crystal clear. We get unlimited calling and we able to port our old number so we do not have to get a new phone number. Best of all, we still get all the normal features like call waiting, caller ID, voice mail, etc. We do not lose out on any of the benefits of having a run of the mill phone line.

Just think of that for a minute. No special phones are needed, you keep your existing phone number, and you do not lose any of the benefits that you are used to for HALF the cost of a regular phone line!

So is a home broadband phone line worth it? It absolutely worth it! Why not save a ton of money for what you need? in my opinion, it is a no-brainer!
