It is usually thought that cell phones are the devices that have all of the new technology, but this isn’t always the case. Home telephones are also seeing the wave of the future and have some of the newer voice and communication technology encompassed within them.

A land line at home and the calling plan that is used for it can have so many different features that are extremely advanced. Some of these calling features can include three way calling, caller ID, anonymous call rejection, call blocking and forwarding, repeat and speed dialing, voice mail, last call connect, and a variety of other features.

Home telephones aren’t the same devices that they used to be, you can now find phones that are just as small as a cell phone would be. Home receivers can also have video conferencing, conference calling with multiple lines, built in answering machines and ones with intercoms. Some home telephones are even blue-tooth compatible.

One technologically advanced feature that home telephone systems can offer is Voice over Broadband service. This is a current technology that uses the speed of DSL and always employs a cable Internet connection. This type of system/service ensures that the quality is digitally clear.

Three way calling can also be an important feature to have on your home receiver. This feature can allow you to speak with two of your loved ones, in different states, at the same time. Three way calling allows you to talk with two other people all in one telephone call. This can be a convenient and time saving tool to have on any residential voice plan.

Also, just as all cell phones have, home telephones also have the technology of caller ID which is a must. Caller ID is a common feature on most of today’s calling devices. This service sends out a caller’s phone number to the telephone of the person that is being called while the call is ringing, before the call is answered. Many people have a caller ID built into their receiver, but some use a caller ID system that is separate from the actual phone. The caller ID usually provides the number of the party that is called and the name that is correlated to that phone number.

Even though many people are constantly using their cell phones as opposed to using a home phone, the home telephone is just as technologically inclined. With all of the great calling plans and rates that consumers can receive through using a home land-line, including local and long distance calling, it’s a wonder that more people are not employing the use of home telephones.
