Social Media Marketing Keyword Strategy – Learn How to Reach the 1st Page of Google Using Keywords

First don’t let the word keyword scare you. Keywords are just the words or short phrases people type into the search box of Google when they are looking for your services or information online. It is important to do research and find out which of these words your prospects use the most and then include them in all of your titles, content, and add them to any places online that asks for keywords or tags. There are several free tools such as Google Ad words plus many paid tools to help you with that process.

After you figure them out, keywords can be the glue that connects all the pieces of your Social Media marketing plan together. Here are seven of the most important Social Networking sites to optimize for your keywords but the list is actually as long as there are social networking and bookmarking sites so you can use this same strategy anywhere you go.

Blog Posts. The title of every blog post should include the most important keyword for that post. The best titles have keywords at the beginning then a benefit to reading the post and finally a keyword at the end. Then use your keywords in the first few words of the first paragraph and sprinkle them throughout the rest of your blog post in a natural way. Don’t forget to list your keywords or tags in the appropriate place before publishing each post.

Twitter. Each of your tweets has its own separate URL so you can increase your Google rankings by using your keywords in your tweets along with your name or the name of your website. You can also create a hash tag for your most important keywords and then track that hash tag at tweetchat to see how often those tweets get re-Tweeted. There are several search applications for Twitter and they gather data from your short bio so it is important to include your most important keywords there also.

Facebook Fan Page The Facebook fan pages are one of the best places to interact with your prospects online. Make sure to include keywords in the information section, your mission statement area, the short bio under your picture and of course whenever appropriate in each update you make.

You Tube Videos are one of the hottest ways to connect with your prospects online. Because Google owns You Tube the search engines love video. Adding a video to your blog on a regular basis can help your rankings a lot. Just like your blog posts make sure the title of your video contains your important keywords. Then make sure to use them in the description as well.

LinkedIn is often overlooked by entrepreneurs because they think it only a place for people who are looking for a job. That is not the case at all. It is a great place to connect with prospects and find joint venture partners so make sure to use your keywords in your bios and whenever you make an update if appropriate.

Your Google profile- Google allow you to create a profile with all the current information about you and your business. Since Google is the number one search engine you should take advantage of this free tool and build out your profile with a current picture, complete bios and the URLs to all the different sites online where you have a profile. All the information and your picture should be current and consistent and just like everywhere else use your keywords whenever possible.

Article Submissions -You may not think of writing articles as part of a Social Media Marketing but they can be very effective for sending people to your website or blog so I always include an account at Ezinearticles as part of my marketing plans. Each article you submit can be optimized for your keywords just like your blog posts. You should include keywords in the title and the body of the article along with listing them in the section for keywords on the actual submission site.

So let’s summarize this strategy. First you should do keyword research and then pick 3-4 of the most important keywords to focus on. Use them in your blog posts and across all your social networking sites on a regular basis. After a few months (depending upon how much completion there is for that keyword) your sites should begin to move towards the 1st or second page of Goggle. Your goal is for many of your sites to come up on the first page when someone types in the keyword. If you follow this plan consistently you will begin to dominate the first page of Google with listings to all your different sites.
