I read an article the other day which was written by an author who had the privileges to interview 37 leaders in the world of organic search engine optimization. The points highlighted in this article were brief but very important.
When we talk about SEO then were talking organic results and who better to ask then the top leaders. Everyone wants to rank high on search engines, if you achieve this then there will be no need for advertising. This is the whole reason SEO is done. So lets get down to business and get cracking with this article.
In brief these top leaders were asked different questions which we will discuss in more detail in this article and the following articles to come. Just to name a few topics that will be covered:
- Keyword use in title tag
- Anchor text for inbound links
- Popularity of site
- The age of the site
- Link popularity within site
- Keyword use in body text
The above topics are just a few areas that were covered and I have ranked them by importance, the first being the most important. Today we will start off with the most important and positive part for your onsite optimization
Keyword use in Title Tag
Keyword use in the Title Tag is placing the targeted search term or phrase in the title tag of the web page’s HTML header. All of the top SEO gurus agree that this Tag has been the most important on-page SEO factor for the past few years. Your Title Tag is bolded in the SERPS and is a heavy hitter on optimization.
Christine Churchill one of the top leaders in Organic optimization says “If you have time to do only one SEO action on your site, take the time to create good titles.” So it is without a doubt a very important factor to pay attention to.
It is also very important to choose a good Title Tag as a good title tag can help while a bad title tag can ruin a page. Its also a good idea to place your sites brand name after your keywords in your Title. Again, with everything to get the full potential out of your Title Tag this is also dependent on the keyword’s usage within content and in bound links.
The final picture
Although the Title Tag is very important for on-site optimization it’s just as important to work on other parts of SEO. When a combined SEO effort is made then you will get your desired results. Its very important to place your keywords in your Title, page description and as the anchor text for inbound links. So if for example ‘Dyson vacuum cleaner’ was one of your key phrases, you will want to mention this same key phrase in your Title, a few times in your page body and use it as your anchor text pointing back to your site. Do this for every page and optimize each page with whatever your key phrase then your on your way to a great SEO strategy.
