The Avaya PARTNER ACS (Advanced Communications System) is a well designed telephone system for small to medium size companies. The main components of the system are circuit modules. The main unit or brains is the processor module. Utilizing expansion modules, 2 or 5 slot carriers, voice mail cards and backup and restore cards you have a complete system. Telephone sets that are compatible with the ACS system are either LCD Display models or Non LCD Display models with ample buttons for features. They come in two colors, white and black.
The systems processor can be used as a stand alone unit by itself hosting five incoming CO lines and nine extension telephones. The system limits are a maximum of 21 lines and 44 extensions with many configurations in between. The different configurations are obtained with the main processor itself and or a 2- or 5-slot carrier combining the different expansion modules. The modules can be used to add lines and extensions to the system, or other devices such as voice mail, CC modems, fax machines and or fractional T1 units.
The system features are numerous including but not limited to Caller ID, Distinctive Ringing, Call Forwarding, Call Hold, Call Transfer, Personal and System Speed Dialing, Conference Calls up to 5 Parties, and many more great features. One very nice feature that the ACS system has for today’s “Road Warrior” is a call forwarding to a cell phone feature. An incoming call can be answered by the AA (Auto Attendant) then connected to an extension user’s telephone and in turn forwarded to a remote cell phone or wherever it is programmed to go. Being off site is no problem with Voice Mail either. You can retrieve your messages remotely at any time.
The ACS system is easily programmed and also easy to install. Voice Mail, Backup and Restore modules and upgrades plus extension additions can be accomplished by inserting system cards and or PCMCIA cards into the system module slots. The documentation supplied is on CD and quite well prepared.
Wireless hands free phones are available also for the ACS as well as credit card readers, fax machines and remote door openers. In today’s economy a Home Office worker is common place. With an add on option similar to VOIP the worker can have a Partner ACS phone in their home office far away from the main office and answer and transfer calls just as if you were in the main office.
In conclusion The Partner ACS system is a robust easily manageable phone system for a small to medium business that is hard to beat.
