How Not to Write an Article

How Not To…? That’s crazy! Why write an article about ‘how not to’ write instead of ‘how to’? Well, because really I have no idea how to write an article. Just recently I have found myself becoming more and more interested in what other people have to write about. It bugs me, I wish I could write like them.

Lets start with my title ‘How Not To Write An Article’, sounds OK (in my opinion of course) but ask a professional and they’ll probably tell you otherwise. I’ve found that titles are one of the most important parts of an article, along with keywords. To get your article found in Google for instance, your title and keywords have to be relevant to each other and your content, er what?? I just want to write an article about something interesting, I have no idea about keywords and getting ranked in search engines. That’ll probably be the reason no one ever reads this.

Secondly article layout, there are ways actually to have your article laid out. So, not how I did mine whilst writing about my title? Yeah, OK it looks a little clumped. The body of an article should be broken up into sections and possibly with sub-titles for readers to scan your article with ease. I just made the first few words bold but you get the idea. Paragraphs should be kept to about 5 lines. Again, something I had no idea about and even though I do now I’m still writing in big clumpy paragraphs!

I’m trying to write this article in the way I would write it if I didn’t have all the information I researched about articles 10minutes ago. Hopefully, the information is useful because I really don’t know, I’m just sharing it with you.

Spelling and grammar, ah my favorite, NOT! You will probably read this article and find hundreds of mistakes, not that I’m proud of that but spelling and grammar are really not my strong points. What the heck, I wanted to write an article anyway. If you read this and think god this is a poor article, then I have served my purpose and will be happy that although I want to be able to write well, but can’t, that you now know how not to write an article.
