Water is something that we encounter every day. It’s in our food, in our streams, in our pipes, and even in our bodies. While the convenience of all this water may seem nice, the fact that it is used in so many situations just means that there are a lot of different ways that it can be contaminated along the journey. While a lot of the pollutants in water are eliminated in water treatment plants, some of them still make it right into our glasses, which is just a scary version of reality that we all live with unknowingly every day. So let’s really take a look at what is in our drinking water and find out if there’s anything we can do about it.
Studies have shown that tap water often contains more than 2,100 harmful chemicals that plants full of water treatment equipment leave behind. Some of these harmful chemicals can be the result of corporate pollution or run-off water from farms, and they can range anywhere from lead to chlorine in most cases. That’s what is in our drinking water. All of that waste and toxic material can be hiding in your tap water at any time, and even bottled water has some of those toxins in it. That’s because bottled water surprisingly has no rules or standards to abide by yet, other than those of moral integrity. People can and do sell you water that’s just like the fluids in your sink, and you’ll pay a lot more money for it.
There is a good side of what is in our drinking water though. Water may contain a lot of bad chemicals, but it still has a lot of nutrients that we need too. Those nutrients may include potassium, calcium, and magnesium, all of which we need to function on a daily basis. Thus the idea of pure water is not rooted in the lack of chemicals, but rather in the lack of toxins. When looking for water treatment equipment, you need to be aware of what it’s getting rid of.
So in response to the question, “What is in our drinking water?” the short answer is just about everything. Water can absorb anything good or bad that it gets around, so it’s your job to find the right water treatment equipment to cycle through the chemicals and leave you with what you need. Look for something with a multi-filtration system so it can target certain chemicals while maintaining the nutrients in water. You’ll get great tasting, toxin free water every time.
