Carrier Ethernet/SIP Services

Carrier Ethernet is used by telecommunication network providers to give personal users and businesses the fastest possible Ethernet connections. The more information you can pass through a network at one time the more valuable an Internet service provider becomes because it lowers your overall wait time for data.

As the Internet grows in popularity and the amount of users increases, bandwidth becomes a big issue. There have been many improvements to the amount of information you can push through Ethernet lines, 10 gigabytes per second is currently the normal rate for bandwidth; this is on a local area network, however which is much easier to push information through than a wide area network. Carrier Ethernet is the most effective way to maximize your gigabytes per second on a global network.

There are multiple different types of networks, which connect people through Carrier Ethernet, and depending on your needs and whom you need to connect with your network may change. WAN stands for “wide area network”, the Internet itself would be considered a WAN, these networks span between everything from neighborhoods to countries. Metropolitan area networks (MAN) are networks within a metropolitan area, a city like Los Angeles, California is going to have much more bandwidth usage than a city like Bismarck, North Dakota, thus being a larger MAN. LANs or “local area networks” are important to businesses because they connect multiple computers within the same building, for instance sharing information with someone in the next cubicle at your office. Most times LANs will be closed networks not open to WAN and secure within the building they are operating in.

What makes Carrier Ethernet so desirable is the fact that it minimizes the amount of delay you would get from smaller connections, which clog up the flow of information and increase wait times. Businesses are also able to cut back on the costs of technical support personnel when using a Carrier Ethernet provider, because all networks are simplified into one network which is much more manageable.
