If you want to start an eBay business this year and follow in the Powersellers footsteps, then you need to get the basics done first.
The fastest way to success is to copy and mimic successful people and the methods, techniques and strategies they use. This is easy since the Internet is so transparent and information is at hand with the few clicks of the mouse.
Well, first you need to find out which are the best selling items on eBay first. I think you’ll agree that to have this knowledge is the key and for those who don’t carry out this research first, they’ll fail miserably.
1. Go over to eBay pulse to find out what the most popular searches are for each category.
2. Click on the “All Categories” drop down menu to list all the eBay categories. Let’s click on “Computers & networking”. We get a list like this one:
1. laptops
2. polycom
3. 146gb u320
4. laptop
5. laptop computer
6. cisco
7. dell laptop
8. quadro
9. Hp c3000
10.macbook
Quite a generic list I’ll think you’ll agree. However, I’ve spotted a niche market at #3 which is 146gb u320. I have no idea what this is, so we’ll click on the link to find out. This will take us over to the auction listings.
These are actually hard drives. Now most of you would think that someone searching for hard drives would enter “hard drives” into the eBay search bar. You’d be wrong. People searching for specific items will type in specific keywords and in this example it’s the 146gb u320 hard drive.
2. On the left hand panel under “Show only” there’s a completed listings tab (note you’ll need to be signed in to use this function). Simply click on the tab and you’ll receive all of the sold data for this listing such as the time, date, and price it sold for. Can you see how powerful this is? We now have a complete list of the best selling items on eBay for this particular category.
How Can You Use This Powerful Information?
By using a little known method called the “swipe and list method”. This is the process of placing bids in the early hours of the morning when there’s very little bidding competition.
In some cases you can get 40-50% off what the price should be. Once you’ve won and eventually receive delivery, simply re-list the item and have the auction finish on a Sunday evening. This is the busiest bidding time for consumer electronics.
This is just one of the sneaky techniques you can use to get ahead of the competition. There are so many others, but far too many to mention here in this article.
Find out how you can dominate markets and align yourself with other Powersellers on eBay by using some easy to use Internet marketing tools.
